The woman who created COBOL, the old (but not obsolete!) computer language that much of the Treasury's code is apparently written in, was a Navy captain. It's not like having high-ranking women in the service is some new thing.

I’ve been watching two sizable lots get developed this past year. Early on it was clear they’d be parking lots but soon after charging stations appeared (fine I guess). Today, they’re filled with Waymos. The most walkable, densest part of Santa Monica gets robotaxi pens, not housing

I didn't really predict that a a bunch of companies working to make life cheaper and more convenient would start us on a path to just NEVER INTERACTING WITH HUMANS and that seems very bad and like something to push back very hard against.

regular reminder to you survey designers out there that if i click "next page" on your survey and see 18 Likert scales I will quit immediately. similarly if i see 5 Likert scales and see that I am on page 2 of 10 I will quit immediately.

At my last physical I had to sign a form that said they’d charge me six ways to Sunday if I brought up a “specific medical complaint” so glad to see we’re continuing to prioritize good health outcomes and encouraging preventative visits
