We cannot overestimate the impact of this measure in improving the lives of children currently living in poverty in the UK.

An unalloyed good, that the Tories have already announced they will reverse if they ever see power again.

OBR estimates that abolition of two-child cap will reduce child poverty by 450,000 and benefit 560,000 families by an average of £5,310 per year.

Brian Stelter says the backlash against the BBC would be "severe" if it caves in to Trump, & he's probably right.

What he fails to consider though is that there are Tories on the BBC board, & in its newsroom, who want that public anger in order to destroy the corporation.

GB News literally "wearing a poppy."

What does that actually mean?

Have they donated to the Royal British Legion to earn it?

Or is "gesture news" now a thing?

I knew Gill and Farage and the rest of the UKIP crew in the European Parliament

They were crooks and shysters to a man

They repeated Putin talking points and appeared on Russia Today

UKIP then and Reform now are both a threat to our democracy

If anything, @mrjamesob.bsky.social, the top 1% paying c.30% of total income tax only shows how completely skewed the income distribution has become.

When you take all taxes into account, the poor pay far more of their income in tax than the top 1% by a wide margin.

@lbc.co.uk
A canard that won't die

Ofc the highest earners pay more income tax than low earners because THEY HAVE MUCH HIGHER INCOMES

The % changes when all taxes are considered

The fixation on the top 1% share of income tax is "at best disingenuous"

But how is this possible?

Trump said he brought peace to the Middle East.

For days everyone on the BBC, LBC and other right wing media have been accusing those who said it was nonsense to claim, so soon, that the war was over of being foolish haters with Trump derangement syndrome.

So predictable

How austerity hit young people.

In the decade after 2010 councils’ funding for youth services in England and Wales suffered a real-terms cut of 70%.

By 2023, 1,200 publicly run youth centres closed.

It’s interesting that many prominent Your Party representatives talk confidently about party policy despite the party currently having none, as policy is meant to be decided by members; it’s at best a naive assumption that everybody agrees with them and at worst an outright lie.
