Wherever you are across the county, your community needs your support! This Christmas, Darren, Naomi, and I will be opening The Edge Café on Christmas Day to help them raise money, as they do amazing work supporting those recovering from substance addiction ❤️

It was fantastic hearing members’ thoughts about Cambridgeshire County Council’s budget for next year at last night’s session 💚 Today, I’m going to look into some of the amazing ideas that were suggested… Photo: Some beautiful art in Abbey 🐆

EVERYBODY needs to be involved in solving society’s problems 💚 The division of labour endemic to industrial capitalism has created a world where people are made to abdicate responsibility for thinking about politics to a designated political class so that they have time to work!

A lot of people expect democracy to be easy, but that’s far from the case. Freedom means that you have to make tough choices, which is always going to be hard work! It’s past midnight, but I expect to be up for at least a few more hours reading through the budget 😴 Photo: 😺

The agenda for this month’s meeting of Cambridgeshire County Council’s Strategy, Resources and Performance Committee has been released, which includes our first look at next year’s budget 😱 Go and have a look before our discussion this weekend; actionnetwork.org/events/count... 💚

Most people don’t throw themselves into finding out what’s happening in their community, which isn’t making the most of democracy. Democracy is valuable because it provides you the freedom to take action, not just trust some other person to do the job - you can challenge them 🗳️

The core of democracy is participation: the reason it’s great is because it empowers all people to get involved ✊ It was nice seeing lots of campaigners out in Petersfield this evening, as we all need to exercise the democratic freedoms that we have 💚

I’ve been working with the @cambsgreenparty.bsky.social to create an unprecedented level of member democracy ✊ If you want to have a substantive say in the future of Cambridge, join our budgeting session this Sunday; actionnetwork.org/events/count... 💚

Young politicians don’t have it easy; many of us have had to deal with condescension and abuse, as lots of people are intimidated by the fresh perspective we’re bringing to politics 🎾 We must all work to empower the next generation of councillors ✊

Yesterday, I had an amazing time at the @londonygs.bsky.social AGM with @natehiggins.bsky.social and Elfrede, where we were helping to train up a new generation of politicians and campaigners 💚

While I’m over in London for the @londonygs.bsky.social AGM, I’ve been out in Hackney campaigning for some of the area’s FANTASTIC Green candidates 💚 If you’re in the city today, make sure you come along to the big meeting; I’m helping to run a workshop on how to be a great councillor!

Last night’s meeting had to be temporarily stopped after it was interrupted by @acorncambridge.bsky.social protesting the council’s use of bailiffs in its collection of council tax arrears. I’ve also complained in the past about how our Labour council uses bailiffs to bully vulnerable residents!

CHEW CHEW 🚂 We can’t compromise when it comes to trains; on the radio yesterday, I said that any new track for East West Rail must be electrified as soon as it’s built 🛤️ I’ve been reading lots about this! Photo: Waffle’s train, which I checked with Woodgreen was safe for him 🥰

If you want to hear a Green perspective on what’s been going on in Cambridge over the last week then tune into Cambridge Radio, where I’ll be chatting about today’s papers 📻

Last week, I spent an evening out on Mill Road, where the @cambsgreenparty.bsky.social spoke with residents about local issues 💚 While there, Isaac and I reported some fly tipping, as we’re working hard to keep Cambridge clean 🗑️ The chilly weather probably didn’t do me much good 🥶

The Greens are WINNING in Cambridge 💚 I had a fantastic time at this weekend’s training, where we learned what we need to know to get some real change in our city!
November 24, 2025 at 1:30 PM
Cambridgeshire is politically stagnant; it’s just the same old parties bringing the same old ideas to the table. Kathryn and I are over in Staffordshire to learn from people like @elliechowns.bsky.social about what it takes to push for real change in Parliament 💚
November 23, 2025 at 12:16 AM
I’ve been a little under the weather over the last couple of days - I think it might be because I was out in the rain last week while supporting striking resident doctors at Addenbrooke’s ☔️ You can read about it in this week’s issue of the @cambridgeindy.bsky.social 🗞️
November 22, 2025 at 12:27 AM
Labour’s plans for local government reorganisation will waste nearly £60 million that could’ve gone towards helping residents across Cambridge 👀 Although the @cambsgreenparty.bsky.social supported a Greater Cambridge authority at this evening’s meeting, it’s the best of the flawed options…

Meet Waffle ❤️ I recently adopted him from Woodgreens, as all animals deserve a loving home 🥰 It’s been great having him with me while I’m preparing for a bunch of interesting meetings that are coming up!
November 20, 2025 at 12:32 AM
Just before this year’s May elections, my beloved gerbil Tails passed away ❤️ I didn’t mention it at the time because I wanted to keep spirits up during the campaign, but Tails was an absolute champ that kept me company while sorting out casework. Now I have to do casework alone!

As soon as I got home, I headed straight across town with Alex to learn about what the Friends of Histon Road Rec are doing to enhance this lovely green space 💚 It was great hearing about all of its animal inhabitants, like bats 🦇 We have to look after our friends in the wild!
November 18, 2025 at 12:32 AM
I had a fantastic time on the Local Government Association’s Leadership Academy Programme ❤️ Collaborating with politicians from across the country has been such a rewarding experience - it is incredibly valuable learning from people in different parties with diverse backgrounds!
November 17, 2025 at 9:29 AM
After a great day learning from the Local Government Association, I’m catching up on some environmental reading before bed 🌱 I’ve had lots of fun in nature this week; on Tuesday, I moved some MULCH to help with the new community orchard at St. Matthew’s Gardens 🍏

SECOND GEAR 🚲 It’d be lovely if personal growth were as instant as changing a gear on a bike, but it’s not- it’s difficult and takes time. I’m over in Coventry this weekend for a Local Government Association course, where I’m learning how to be an even better community champion!
