I was diagnosed with HIV in 1998, two years after effective treatment for HIV had been identified.
The medication was still very new.
I was told I could expect to live another 20 years, which at the time was more than had been granted to many of my friends.
HIV treatment works. Tell everyone.

What I find moving about this is her ‘if you’re still in there…’
His obsession has completely taken over his life, losing him friends, work, his marriage, respect. But rather than question himself, he digs deeper, convinced in his own martyrdom.

I used to love Father Ted and the IT Crowd.
They’re tarnished goods now.

You’ve always been a handsome fella.

Indeed. I know a few.

That’s what I immediately thought too.
When I was at drama college in the 1990s I was told that being openly gay would limit my career, that nobody who was gay could make it as a leading man.
Sexiest Man Alive may seem a trivial title but for it to awarded to a defiantly open gay actor still feels significant.
Well done Jonathan Bailey.

Can we chuck that one in the dumpster of history, please?
November 5, 2025 at 10:41 AM
Understood.
Same.
November 5, 2025 at 10:16 AM
I reckon it’s likely that there’s been a gay winner of People magazine’s ‘sexiest man alive’ before Jonathan Bailey, just not one who is openly gay, so in this context ‘openly gay’ is justified.
What do you think?
