One thing that always surprises me about kids is their terrible sense of scale. We're doing news bumpers for animation and the size of the "School News" text at the end is SO SMALL for so many of them. No one can read that.

Man. If only Congress had some sort of warning they'd have to vote on stuff we wouldn't be in this mess.

Pea Soup with hamburger is not as good as Pea Soup with a ham hock, that is what I've discovered.

Had a post go kind of crazy over on Threads and not sure I'm into that. I always think it'd be cool to make a little side-cash on social media, but I also have too much anxiety for it.

The most sexually charged moment in cinema is George and Mary sharing the phone in Its a Wondeful Life and they dont even kiss at the end.

I am a Montessori trained teacher. I spent four years at a Montessori and studied Dr. Montessori's writings a lot. The Montessori curriculum is heavily scripted, yet open to great opportunity for child choice. The prepared environment is hyper-organized, yet allows for lots of exploration.

JC Penney = went yesterday for clothes shopping and got a pretty nice set of new clothes. Not everything, and I regret not getting the two dress shirts I liked, but I was dropping a pretty penny (no pun intended).

Found it. Now mad there's not a single ham hockey to be found.

A big chunk of my educational philosophy can be summed up with "knowing things is better than not knowing things."

Maybe someday, I'll get quoted.

I would like my fellow teachers to both stop putting in the after-hours work AND take more responsibility for learning in the classroom. We have such a hard time with nuance as a world, and its evident in the classrooms as well. But if you have sharp lessons, you'd be surprised at what you can do.

I guess I sort of know why, but why can't locals band together to try and create more localized news media outlets? Old school newspapers and radio stations? I guess the startup costs must be insane. But it feels like the monopolies are separating from the main populace. We could undercut.

The median for SNAP benefits is almost $3000 annually! $3000 just to swipe a card, work two jobs, stress about how to cover your rent, drive on bald tires, and forgo preventative medicine!

It's a median of $60,000 to house a prisoner, fyi.

I was hoping I'd end my short time as a Blue Jays fan with a victory, but at least as a Tigers fan, I'm used to this type of thing. Anyway, F--- the Dodgers, as usual.

Well, not really, although I'd prefer the Brewers. Oh well. Baseball ends. I do not watch any other sports with regularity.

Just imagining this guy at work the next day describing trick or treating like it's a weird thing that happened and his co-workers like "Yeah, Bob, they were trick or treating. Everyone does it on Halloween, what's wrong with you?" and him refusing to believe it's common.
When I was like 8 and trick or treating one guy in a dapper suit opened the door and looked baffled by the very concept of trick or treaters, he turned to a bowl on a table and gave us each a handful of loose change. Almost four decades later and I’m still thinking about that eccentric king.
In 6 years of living here we've never had a trick or treater so we stopped buying candy but I got one last night so I gave him $5 then went to bed cause that's all the cash I had on me

I'm jealous of people who love fishing. I grew up fishing but never got into it. It's fine. But it looks like something that's really awesome to be super into, and I'm not. Does anyone else have hobbies they know they don't like, but sort of wish they did?

Always happy to hear @carlhendrick.substack.com on a podcast. A very brief/quick reference to how inane the concept of the "hero teacher" is. The best teachers do their job really well every day. That's it.

You guys remember the episode of Recess where TJ cornered the market on stickers so everyone just switched stickers? I feel like the "shadow" government is just us, the people, helping each other and ignoring all the elites.
A common theme of Trump II is an utterly cowardly class of elites while everyday regular people have risen to the occasion
