@heavyweight.bsky.social I know this is due to recent, replayed episodes, but you have to admit, this is quite funny 🤣

Black Mirror isn't really what it used to be but by goodness that Eulogy episode was great, Paul Giamatti is incredible.

FWIW, I'd love to be a STEM teacher but I don't see a path that doesn't result in a ~50% pay cut initially, which kinda sucks 😔

I have listened to the song Frontier Psychiatrist a million times and I’ve even looked at sample breakdowns, but this video of the samples being places in an Ableton session is so fun and instructive. youtu.be/Epr8xDE3Kgk?...

Re-watched Severance season 1 in preparation for season 2 and boy oh boy had I forgotten how good it was. I felt that the pacing was incredible, and the tension in that last episode... If season 2 is shit, please don't tell me.

#albumsof2024 so I ran out of time and didn't wanna drag this into Jan. These were the ones I didn't post. FWIW, the Lminl album was my fave Northern Irish thing, the Armand Hammer was my fave rap, the GY!BE album was just beautiful and Nxworries was Knxwledge's smoothest production to date xx

Is it possible to perform a denial of service on a Bluetooth speaker? I'm very curious to learn whether this is achievable... Theoretically of course 🫣

#albumsof2024 Imaginal Disk by Magdalena Bay - vibey, futuristic pop music with strong lyrics and a mad theme about getting a compact disc installed in her head and relearning what it is to be human, forget Brat summer, it's Imaginal Disk autumn

#albumsof2024 Fantasy World by Lilacs & Champagne - one of my tops for the year, two members of Grails doing some wild Dilla/Madlib type stuff but played (?) by a band (?). Honestly, I can't genre this. Post-rock-beat-hop? I'm confused but it's great

#albumsof2024 Acts of Harm by Outlander - cinematic, dreamy, shoegaze (doomgaze?) from Brum. Have loved these lads since Sundowner and it was a joy to see them play this live. Emotive, sounds huge and a lovely album to listen through whole

#albumsof2024 Infinite Reflections by Uniri - four prominent London jazz musicians bring us the best intersection of jazz and hip-hop I've heard in years... Cosmic, psychedelic, unreal drums... Roots in Dilla, eyes in the clouds

#albumsof2024 Charm by Clairo - this is a little pocket of warm, 70's-esque, whispery, soft rock, jazz meets bedroom-lofi thing. It's great, def listen to the album in sequence, I feel like it flows so well. Sounds like there's a Wurlitzer piano in there too...

#albumsof2024 Spot Land by Gnod - on @rocketrecordings.bsky.social, warm, slow, wistful psychedelia from the UK. One of my fave UK releases this year, gutted I had a family clash when they came through town. Lap steel, brushed drums, kalimba, one to float away on

#albumsof2024 Your Community Hub by @warringtonruncorn.com - a beautiful, sparse slice of electronic music, a "sonic exploration of the new towns movement", pulsing, at times dystopian, damn cool & so well produced with a tense yet hopeful feel

#albumsof2024 Umbilical by Thou - one of my favourite heavy records of the year, a perfect slice of sludge/doom metal on @sacredbones.bsky.social - the energy is immense, the absolute snarls backed by a grimy, spacious, loose production, brutal and brilliant

#albumsof2024 Inside the Light World by Sun Ra at the OVC - this is a remastered recording of Sun Ra playing at the OVC (google it). I just love the Piano sound on this, and it's got a fave rendition of Theme of the Stargazers and Sunset on the Nile
