#albumsof2024 so I ran out of time and didn't wanna drag this into Jan. These were the ones I didn't post. FWIW, the Lminl album was my fave Northern Irish thing, the Armand Hammer was my fave rap, the GY!BE album was just beautiful and Nxworries was Knxwledge's smoothest production to date xx

#albumsof2024 Imaginal Disk by Magdalena Bay - vibey, futuristic pop music with strong lyrics and a mad theme about getting a compact disc installed in her head and relearning what it is to be human, forget Brat summer, it's Imaginal Disk autumn

#albumsof2024 Fantasy World by Lilacs & Champagne - one of my tops for the year, two members of Grails doing some wild Dilla/Madlib type stuff but played (?) by a band (?). Honestly, I can't genre this. Post-rock-beat-hop? I'm confused but it's great

#albumsof2024 Acts of Harm by Outlander - cinematic, dreamy, shoegaze (doomgaze?) from Brum. Have loved these lads since Sundowner and it was a joy to see them play this live. Emotive, sounds huge and a lovely album to listen through whole

#albumsof2024 Infinite Reflections by Uniri - four prominent London jazz musicians bring us the best intersection of jazz and hip-hop I've heard in years... Cosmic, psychedelic, unreal drums... Roots in Dilla, eyes in the clouds

Cool to see @bellingcat.com featured in the permanent exhibition at ACMI in Melbourne!

#albumsof2024 Charm by Clairo - this is a little pocket of warm, 70's-esque, whispery, soft rock, jazz meets bedroom-lofi thing. It's great, def listen to the album in sequence, I feel like it flows so well. Sounds like there's a Wurlitzer piano in there too...

#albumsof2024 Spot Land by Gnod - on @rocketrecordings.bsky.social, warm, slow, wistful psychedelia from the UK. One of my fave UK releases this year, gutted I had a family clash when they came through town. Lap steel, brushed drums, kalimba, one to float away on

#albumsof2024 Your Community Hub by @warringtonruncorn.com - a beautiful, sparse slice of electronic music, a "sonic exploration of the new towns movement", pulsing, at times dystopian, damn cool & so well produced with a tense yet hopeful feel

#albumsof2024 Umbilical by Thou - one of my favourite heavy records of the year, a perfect slice of sludge/doom metal on @sacredbones.bsky.social - the energy is immense, the absolute snarls backed by a grimy, spacious, loose production, brutal and brilliant

#albumsof2024 Inside the Light World by Sun Ra at the OVC - this is a remastered recording of Sun Ra playing at the OVC (google it). I just love the Piano sound on this, and it's got a fave rendition of Theme of the Stargazers and Sunset on the Nile

#albumsof2024 Constellation by Caoilfhionn Rose - @gondwanarecords.bsky.social coming through with a lush record rooted in jazz, folk, with one of my fave voices of 2024. Piano driven but riddled with synth, sax and samples cc @keelinmusic.bsky.social

#albumsof2024 To Belong by Marine Eyes - beautiful ambient, brimming with shimmering drones and slow synths but some songs channel a beautiful dream pop edge, especially the vocal tracks, Bridges is just utterly lovely, thanks @marineeyes.bsky.social

#albumsof2024 You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To by Knocked Loose, generally not my thing genre wise but man this got under my skin, pure aggression with a punchy production to back it up. fight music. Big riffs but then brought back slower and dirtier.

#albumsof2024 Eleven Fugues For Sodium Pentothal by Adam Wiltzie - not much to say, SOTL were one of the greats and the Dead Texan very close, I'll always have time for Adam's output. The name here says it all but it's also expansive & intimate all at once

adamwiltzie.bandcamp.com/album/eleven...

#albumsof2024 Trance Anthems for a Sunken Generation by 36, a complete departure from the normal @3six.bsky.social sound but something he's been working towards for a while, his warm, tender soundscapes replaced with dystopian, fractured, deconstructed synths

#albumsof2024 Tigers Blood by Waxahatchee, this one just burrows into the brain, 90's tinged country-alt-rock, top class song writing, perfect for late-evening summer drives, feels very real #aoty

#albumsof2024 Three by Four Tet - for me, this is the perfect Four Tet record, dreamy, woozy, driven. It's like zooming out over his entire career, so beautifully sequenced and paced and Three Drums is a big goosebump crescendo closer... Just class #aoty

#albumsof2024 Regeneration by Guhts, emotionally tinged, droney, shoegaze meets post-metal from New York, big scapey riffs layered with nervous melody and tense vocals. Sounds huge and different... Some tracks have piano too, which sounds unexpectedly great.

Continuing #albumsof2024, Imerro by C. Diab - discovered by complete chance. It's like ambient music with folk/jazz overtones, lots of bowed guitar and delicate emotive soundscapes. Diab himself describes it as "post-classical grunge" and I can't get enough #aoty

Yes, more #albumsof2024, The Telescopes with Growing Eyes Becoming String, a dark, droney psychedelic rock album, recorded in 2013 and considered lost until 2024. Slow, loopy, sad, this is a dreary album in the best possible way #aoty

Next in #albumsof2024, Now I Know Paradise by Prayer, proper tears-on-the-dancefloor shit, rolling, emotive breaks and giant euphoric synths, FFO hugging your mates in big dark rooms. Was put onto this by a mate who loves Jungle and Mogwai equally #aoty
