Radical right parties in Europe have not moderated. Their positions and rhetoric have entered the mainstream. They have become normalized and legitimized. Unless we understand this, we have little chance of countering their success.
In many parts of Europe populist-right parties have moderated as they have grown, shedding unpopular policies and personnel. If anything, the AfD in Germany is growing more radical econ.st/3KSptMm

The real issue isn’t immigration, it’s the feedback loop: platforms amplify anxiety → voters feel it → politicians chase it → hollow policy follows. Until we break that cycle, we won’t get functional decisions or functional democracy.

The biggest political success of far-right entrepreneurs like Charlie Kirk and Barri Weiss is not that they convinced old rich “conservatives” that they could mobilize America’s youth but that they were able to convince gullible “liberal” elites that they represent America’s youth.

Dangerous and reckless language in a deeply nativist @financialtimes.com column today.

This is a BIG decision, which will undoubtedly get a legal follow-up.

It allows not only state surveillance but could also hinder the growing normalization, as public sector employees cannot be members of “extreme right” organizations.

It includes links to references, from my work and that of others.

I tried to tag the authors whenever they are on here, in case you are interested in following their work.
