I can't help but feel that - to some degree - Brexit is behind this. We have put all of our eggs in the Anglo-sphere basket and are terrified of criticising anything Trump does for fear of alienating our one supporter. And so we side with despotism and bullying.

[Opinion] Jenkins will use Yorke to shield himself from the media, and as an extremely useful link to one of the UK's "Newspapers of record." It would not surprise me at all if The Times, and The Sunday Times, were rewarded with preferential treatment, and enhanced access to breaking news.

It’s interesting how articles like this are written as if the UK has had no role to play whatsoever in heightened tensions with Russia. Sure, Russia is behaving like an asshat. But that people might profit from framing the UK as under threat is absent from this.
