It’s very telling that the best Kevin Smith work (in my opinion) is freaking Clerks: The Animated Series. Stuck with network limitations, Kevin Smith and his writing crew work with sitcom expectations and rip into themselves selling out as well.

As much as we want Legacy and more old characters returning (or being recast), that can genuinely hold back and even negate the ongoing stories told by new Star Trek adventures.
Picard S3 was good, but we had 2 seasons to slog through to even get there.
