I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.
Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.

So the “security reasons” for locking out DOE employees was because half of them were going to be fired today. Anyone who’s been through corporate layoffs knows how stressful and dehumanizing they are. I feel so sorry for all these public servants and their families. 😰
