EPA just approved new ‘forever chemical’ pesticides for use on food
Critics warn the EPA’s approvals of new PFAS pesticides could expose more Americans to “forever chemicals” through their food.

I don’t even live in NYC, but this is really exciting.
Zohran Mamdani wins!

He ran on an unabashedly pro-transgender platform, stood up for the most vulnerable, as so many have pushed for the Democratic Party to abandon trans people in order to win.

Major win for trans New Yorkers - he has vowed for intense resistance to anti-trans Trump policies.

What’s draining tax dollars isn’t SNAP, it’s corporate welfare and billionaire tax breaks.

FACT: Even people working two jobs still need SNAP.

Where’s the outrage about that?!

Oooooo, interesting. Somebody on the Ninth Circuit was quite unhappy with the baloney order justifying the National Guard in Oregon. (They also likely believe there's a good shot at reversal before the whole Circuit en banc, or they wouldn't have done this.)
BREAKING: A Ninth Circuit judge has sua sponte — on their own — already called for a vote on whether there should be an en banc rehearing (which means all active judges will vote on whether the matter should be reheard). Briefing is called for on that question, due by mid-week.

The marines wanted to fire live artillary over I-5; Newsom didn't want them to, but they said too bad; that it was safe.

Then, oh, look: a shell detonated prematurely. Good thing Newsom had shut down 17 miles of freeway (used by 80,000 Californians daily).

On building social rapport and the importance of the folks who showed up to protest. It’s part of the whole.
In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

A travel recounting (with content warning) that is both personal (to the author) and widely relatable (to my eastern european jewish history and events of today). See also: VT young republicans callous texts
While traveling in Germany recently, I toured the Memorial Museum in Hadamar, "commemorating those who were persecuted and murdered during the National Socialist 'euthanasia' crimes of 1941 - 1945."

This is devastating for trans kids in MA.
1. In a major capitulation to Trump, Fenway Health, a center ostensibly dedicated to LGBTQ+ healthcare, has ended its trans care program under 19.

It could have fought for its patients. It chose instead to roll over.

Community members are devastated.

Last Friday, all but two senior staff members in the federal Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs received reduction-in-force notices.

These layoffs are a major blow to the agency that's in charge of the money needed for the roughly 7.5 million disabled students.

Only bots would argue with this point. One could complain about Democrats, but that’s not who is cutting the budget and then trying to blackmail the minority party to vote for more cuts (because even R’s don’t have the votes to do the damage they want).
Let’s be clear: Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House.

They have chosen this chaos over canceling Medicaid cuts, lowering the costs of medicine, and saving health care!

Republicans have latched onto the fact that 1.4 million of the 10 million people who lost health care from OBBBA are immigrants — but all of them are here legally.

Republicans are lying and saying they’re here illegally, and then lying to pretend actually the entire 10 million were here illegally.

Who elected Stephen Miller?
Miller alleges Comey, Clapper, Brennan, Obama, and Monaco conspired to sabotage democratic institutions. He claims this involved pre-dawn raids, spying on Trump’s campaign, removing his national security adviser, and filing false charges—all an “unrelenting attempt” to overthrow the gov.
Stephen Miller calls Obama, Comey, Clapper, and Brennan insurrectionists, accusing them of sabotaging democracy.

Firing and demoralizing feminized jobs as enemies of the state while brazenly bribing men with violent jobs that almost instantly puts them into the middle of middle class is very basic gendered warfare. Fulfilling the manosphere’s promise.
It is insane to me that the government can find money to pay ICE agents increasingly larger sums of money, yet teachers have to buy their own pencils.

Cancelling mRNA vaccine research and development sounds like a good way to create public un-health. Easy to call and let them hear what’s on your mind.
I called and am getting transferred to the secretary, that direct line is: 202-690-7000
Introverts: it's after office hours right now, so you won't have to speak to a human if you call the direct line now and leave a message.
