A handsome and intense juvenile Bald Eagle is intensely focusing on a fish he sees in the river. He's slowing and adjusting flight to align with the fish for a pass at catching something to eat. #BaldEagle #birds

The bird on the top has a nice fish. The bird underneath tries to steal the fish. The bird with the fish drops the fish when it knows it's being attacked by the fish thief. A little bit of drama. This encounter was far away, so grainy, but fun to witness and capture.

There was also a bully Bald Eagle yesterday stealing fish from many other birds. They usually behave well in crowded places even when there have been more than 30 birds in the past. This was a first. The bird has a small fish in it's talons.

There weren't too many Eagles yesterday by the dam, but maybe 8 or 10 because it was warm. But it was sure good to see them. This is perhaps a 4yr old bird, with still some dark color on his whites.

Proud to post this link to the article that I wrote in the September issue of @aba.org's Birding magazine - much easier to read than the scanned jpgs I posted earlier. Thank you ABA and @birdizlife.bsky.social! #birds #birding #Lyme #Lymedisease #wellness

One day this year I had a great encounter at the conservancy where the Great Egrets hang out. Here's a super pose that I was so happy to catch. #ArtAdvantCalendar

Took a half day and went to the WI River at Sauk City by the dam. Very warm so not as many Bald Eagles, but should have some photos coming. 🦅

This is a typical scene during Sandhill migration. Birds are constantly taking off and landing in various locations in the fields with hundreds of cranes in the background. Such a special time. Here's a few of one pair lifting off.

Sandhill migration is LOUD. One flock of Sandhills that came to the farm fields from the river brought a pair of Bald Eagles with them. They came off the river to see all the commotion in the fields. #birds #BaldEagles
