There's no real need for any gentle finessing from Diamond when feeding Girri now. Girri turns 18 days old today. Fledging at this nest typically occurs at around the 43 days mark—a bit earlier for males, sometimes a bit later for females. #OrangeNSW #PeregrineFalcons

150 years ago today, the last known Rodrigues parakeet died.
It - and one other specimen - is now in @zoologymuseum.bsky.social: the only physical evidence the species ever existed.

I will forever be haunted by this footage.

Trawling has only been filmed underwater a few times in documentary history, and never with such clarity.

What’s so heart-rending about these shots is watching how the animals don’t just get swept up — they swim for their lives.

Millions of bees have died this year. It's "the worst bee loss in recorded history," one beekeeper says.
Bees play a key role in the U.S. food supply, and the mass deaths could jeopardize that.

"The scheme is so large, activists believe that it could lead to more deforestation than any other single project in the world."
NEW: The Indonesian government is using thousands of soldiers to force through a vast agricultural project in indigenous lands and forests in Merauke, Papua.

We investigated how this is affecting Papuans by interviewing people whose land has been targeted and analysing soldiers' TikTok posts.
