I’ve never doubted my marriage until tonight. My husband asked if I knew the couple with the corgi that lived down the street and I said, “do you mean Wally?” And he admitted he didn’t know the corgi’s name. The corgi who has lived on our street for two years who has a heart and a soul and a song.

On my bike ride into work this morning a hawk swept over me in the sky, landed on a lamppost, and then took a dump. I never realized I held assumptions about what hawk poop would look like, but this moment absolutely defied them. If this wasn’t the Kantian sublime, I don’t know what is.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

t's hot pynchon fall, where almost everyone in the news has a stupid name, the grift is on, and we're all either deteriorating from paranoia or seeing reality in all its firework against a night sky sharpness

It’s been four years since Gaby passed on the equinox, but she is often in my thoughts and her magic still touches me. She was my Kira of Xanadu. I wish we could have another skate at Moonlight, another song at the Smog Cutter, another all night hang with another flip of a record.
