The sailor cannot see the North but knows the needle can.
Full time carer for someone with LongCovid. Mostly photographs and thoughts connected to my immediate landscape in the ever decreasing circles of my life.

Don't let me drown...
Fascinating.
Got me wondering about ‘my’ oystercatchers again and how much sleep they actually get when on the shoreline.

Deceptive. It’s bright and breezy but it’s bl🍅🍅dy cold.

Preparing lunch. Not quite The Lighthouse Keepers lunch. Definitely not a mustard sandwich. (Wondering what was in the original Lighthouse sandwich).

That’s me says the small voice in my head.
“There is dust on your chairs.”

“Tomorrow,” said Toad.

“Your windows need scrubbing,” said Frog. “Your plants need watering.”

“Tomorrow!” cried Toad. “I will do it all tomorrow!”

Not sticking my oar in… but this is a great thread.
A thread of how to say “nobody asked you” from around the world, starting with this one…

A Lithuanian way of telling someone to mind their own business is ne tavo kiaulės, ne tavo pupos. It means “not your pigs, not your beans.”

Just discovered The Pot House closed recently. Formerly The Harbour of Refuge, built 1895, it earned the nickname The Pot House because its outer walls were covered in glazed pottery tiles. Official name change in 2014 but already commonly called that by locals.
“No longer on the market”?

Today in history.
The Bombardment of the Hartlepools. A memorial to those killed in the naval bombardment of the 16th December 1914. The scenes on the sides of the memorial are taken from local artist James Clark’s painting (1915) portraying the attack which happened close to this spot.

Yesterday. Clouds hang like heavy thoughts above the water. The horizon spilling a slow bright orange across the underbelly of the storm. The light is a thing of edges: a gilding on a cleat, a burn along a rail, a cold fire on the calm that rests between the glowering sky and the solemn sea.
