Sky bright, air damp with showers. Bones cold. Time to return home to warm through and sip “tea and oranges”.

I peeled my orange
That was so bright against
The gray of December
That, from some distance,
Someone might have thought
I was making a fire in my hands.

Moonshine and magic.

I seem to recall a primary school reading book of that name. Silver books and Gold books. Part of Through the Rainbow reading series.

Bit of a hectic morning ahead. Out early under the moon. Brisk walk. The lights hummed and glowed in time with our pulse beat. Warmer than anticipated. Roughly unzipped the jacket to feel the cool air flow.

It is. Also aware of a couple who had a similar experience with Betty’s about Fat Rascals. How they could patent the name I do not know because even Dicken’s mentions them in a story in his 1859 All Year Round magazine.
“They are famous at Saltburn for their fat rascals.”

Long shadows. (Tilly dog and me). Bright sky. Tide well out. Almost empty beach. One or two oystercatchers peeping on the shoreline. And breathe.

Morning has turned to afternoon so here we are, safely anchored indoors. I’m afraid we didn’t get too far and the rain still raineth all around. Tilly is snoozing through it all.🙂
