Every time that someone complains about an "activist" judge "overruling democracy" by ruling against the Trump Administration, we need to see their actions clearly. They are trying to cut a road through the law, to get after a devil which generally exists only in their own minds.
Of course, to the TPUSA, any trans individual is "mentally ill" by definition.

And it's no surprise that they can't even get Mel Curth's name right.
Here’s the TPUSA version of events at OU.

Not surprisingly, they lie about what happened — she wasn’t flunked for quoting the Bible; she never even quoted it — and accuse the instructor, whom they name, as being “mentally ill”

This sort of incident has been around for a long time. Some of us with long memories may remember the case of a supposed "Christian student victim" named Brittney Settle.
University of Oklahoma student Samantha Fulnecky turned in a Bible-themed sermon instead of an essay and received a failing grade.

She immediately complained to Republican leaders and right-wing media.

Sadly, her pretend-victimhood is working.

She turned in a Bible sermon instead of an essay and failed. Now conservatives say she’s the victim.
Samantha Fulnecky’s Bible-filled essay earned her a failing grade. After whining to Republican leaders, the University of Oklahoma is caving to her demands.

Also just one episode in, but agree.

Three generations watching this together last night; us, our kids, their school-age kids. All found it gripping and enlightening.

This is particularly ridiculous when 1)as a prominent reporter/podcaster with the Times these were basically the only topics Astead covered in 2024 (as part of a major drumbeat of coverage) and 2)he "mysteriously" lost interest in the subjects of presidential age and popularity in January 2025

People will die, and are currently dying, because RFK was granted one of the most powerful megaphones in the country. Two people who could have thrown barriers in front of his climb decided not to; there's a sex scandal here but it is not the biggest scandal.

Place National Guard in harm’s way for no good reason. Two members are tragically and unnecessarily shot. The reckless regime’s response: We’re sending 500 more National Guard troops! What a disgrace.

Absolutely incredible; after shooting Marimar Martinez 5 times and arresting her on claims that she rammed them and pulled a gun, prosecutors have now moved to dismiss ALL criminal charges against her and her codefendant.
New: the govt has moved to dismiss its assault case against Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, two people accused of "box[ing] in" a Border Patrol vehicle in Chicago on Oct. 4.

One agent shot Martinez, with evidence presented to the court that he later bragged about in text messages.

In normal times, it would be a major scandal for the President to direct his AG to criminally investigate his political opponents to deflect from his own involvement in a major scandal — and for the AG to immediately announce she is doing it. The Epstein scandal and cover up just got even bigger.

So true.
Reporters: please stop using the word "shocking" to describe the actions of the Trump regime. Anybody who is still shocked by Trumpist behavior after 10 months of this is either hopelessly stupid or deeply in need of professional help.

A 30-year mortgage currently has an interest rate of 6.3%. A reasonable guess it that a 50-year mortgage rate would be about 7.0%.

⇒ The monthly payment on a $500k mortgage:
- 30 years: $3,050 per month
- 50 years: Only $100 less at $2,950 (but 240 months longer).

Wow! A new low for Ken Paxton. His deranged press release claims that there cannot be any legitimate purpose for legal defense for people facing deportation — effectively saying that removal defense is not legitimate and only “radicals” would want people to have lawyers.

Horrid stuff from him.

Whenever Ken Starr returns to the news, it's fun to remember that one deputy investigating Bill Clinton (and Vice Foster) was ... Brett Kavanaugh!

Extra fun to remember that GWBush FL Recount team in 2000 included Brett K, J Roberts, AC Barrett.

Plus help from FL gov Jeb Bush. Good times!
Ken Starr emailing with Epstein in 2018 is a really interesting thing to learn about!!!!!!

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

The agreement to hold a vote on ACA subsidies is not a concession. It's worth literally nothing. It should be ignored when evaluating the merits of the deal
Sanders: That is a totally meaningless gesture. You can get 100 votes here and it won't mean anything because the House is not going to take it up.

Just left the latest hearing in Jim Comey's criminal case. It did not go well for DOJ

The magistrate judge scolded them for an "indict first, investigate second" posture and ordered them to turn over reams of material — including all grand jury info — to Comey's team

509 and 510 just allows Bondi to delegate her powers to any existing employees of DOJ. 515 allows Bondi to appoint any attorney already retained by DOJ to special attorney.

But Halligan was not an already retained attorney or employee when appointed. None of this works.

A 14-word replacement for most op-eds, substacks, etc about this moment.

The GOP could stop ALL of this, right now—if a handful of Sens or Reps could step outside the cult.

It would take four in the Senate, four (maybe five) in the House, to change history.

Until then, they're all to blame.

DHS is at it again. They’re mad that I correctly pointed out that their claim of 515,000 “illegal migrants deported” was wrong so called me a “chronically online troll,” which is particularly ironic coming from an account which actively trolls people all the time.

I’m skeptical that a court can or will do this, but i think it has to be tried, because the GOP has descended to full lawlessness, and we don’t have any kind of government if the majority party can just refuse to recognize others.
