Once you experience something like sexual assault your view of the world changes. Thank you to @lwlies.com and @hannahstrong.co.uk for allowing me to use my own experienges to explore the representation of male sexual assault on screen.

Any and all support on this one means the world ❤️
Making a good Christmas film is no easy feat, as perfectly illustrated by one of the year's worst films, The Christmas Letter. A picture so devoid of passion or heart that it could expel the Christmas spirit from Ebenezer Scrooge himself.

I was incredibly lucky to get to sit down with I Swear director, Kirk Jones, and discuss the film, John Davidson, and the importance of understanding in the modern world. Kirk was a total sweetheart and provided me with some great answers.

This stuff never stops being cool for me. When I first started writing film reviews, I dreamed of having a review of mines on a DVD or a poster or to write for certain publications. Getting to achieve some of those dreams this year has been pretty damn cool!

I really wish people would stop being so quick to declare a movie a flop. Like I appreciate these statements come from a place of analytics and statistics but I saw publications claiming The Smashing Machine to be a failure within three days? Like, can we just give things time.

I am very lucky to have had my reviews used in the past for promotional materials, even on movie posters, but I have never seen one in the flesh. So cool!Better believe I took one home for myself.

My manager also put one up at work with the wee note you can see in the second photo. Very sweet.

My interview with Irvine Welsh and Paul Sng is finally here.

As a wee boy wanting to get into film in Scotland, I never thought it was possible until I saw Trainspotting for the 1st time. So getting to chat to him and Paul about drugs, death and arts education was an honour!

My dear friend Braelen has made a terrific YouTube video detailing the process of making a song. From writing to recording to producing, step 1 all the way to completion. Regardless of musical experience, I think you'll enjoy the vid. Check it out!

Sinners invites a new bold business idea. What if people want to see movies because they like them and not due to a pavlovian response to being 12 years old once!?

When I first heard about a new horror film from a nineteen year old director I couldn't help but be curious. As a film it may not work but the talent is clearly there. Check out my review of Human Resources now!

I wrote about a recent shift in paranoid thrillers on TV, which have moved away from the disillusioned white everyman who's often a cog in the machine to those who are often ground up by the gears

Emilia Pérez had me won over at first but the wheels quickly fell off. Much like Driving Miss Daisy going over Do The Right Thing, this being nominated over I Saw The TV Glow feels like another example of the lesser, more digestible film being awarded.

Thank you to everyone that liked, shared, and read this article over the past week.

this from soderbergh's daily beast int has really annoyed bc it's creating a false equivalency. yes every artist takes inspiration from others, but the idea of feeding films/art into an algorithm to spit out something 'inspired' by them is categorically not the same to me
