Just ran session 1 of our much-postponed Halloween RPG. The players are all YouTube ghost hunters, investigating an abandoned asylum. It's already going a bit Grave Encounters.

I grew up less than 8 miles from here, which is why I (and probably everyone else who remembers the stories) would give this a great big Nope!

It's very weird these days watching movies in which the office of President of the USA is treated with respect and awe.

Just back from a few days in Amsterdam, helping one of my best friends celebrate the big 5-0. Saw Sinterklaas arrive by boat. Drank lots of (slightly pretentious) cocktails. Saw some herons at a fishmarket. Narrowly dodged lots of bicycles. Good times.

Last week I had the pleasure of popping in to the Super Relaxed Fantasy Club (@srfantasyclub.bsky.social ) for a reading and a Q&A.

Before that, I had to figure out the right pacing. You can now find the (no spoilers) alternate reading up on Youtube (link in reply).

Apparently the Kindle edition of The Last Vigilant is just 99p on Amazon UK until the end of November. Seems like the perfect opportunity to give it a try if you haven't already!

The James Bond canon discourse is very funny. The Craig era didn't even have internal consistency. Skyfall completely contradicts Casino Royale, and plays out like a Brosnan script. And then Spectre totally rewrites Blofeld but is actually a rehash of Austin Powers: Goldmember. It doesn't matter.
