As a Catholic in the Bible Belt, it initially befuddled me and then *consistently* infuriated me about my evangelical neighbors was a foundational concept for them: professed belief in Jesus=saved=good person➡️what they did was good (even when it wasn't).

What kills me is when people respond "well, how would they implement that?" I dunno, but I'm not the one who solicited thousands of dollars in donations under the pretense that I was the only one qualified to figure it out.

it's not just that they're supporting out-of-town ICE shock troops against their own community; it's that they're being paid with money you would rather have spent on buses and schools and parks and social services. I feel like in the year of our Mamdani 2026 that's an argument we can push harder
