If Witkoff actually knew anything, he would know that this prospect of mutually beneficial trade between 🇷🇺 & the West was on the table & happening for the entire post-Cold War period, that 🇷🇺 was welcomed into the G-8 in 1997 & WTO in 2012, & that Putin threw it all away by invading 🇺🇦 in 2014 & 2022.
Witkoff (“who hasn't traveled to Ukraine this year, is set to visit Russia for the sixth time next week”) spoke on the record to the Journal to extol the promise of his business negotiations with Putin

If the 25th amendment were triggered by any objective metric of presidential insanity or unfitness, Trump would have been launched out of the White House ten seconds into tonight’s speech. Or 11 months ago. Or daily since.

On Russian state TV tonight, a headline (until recently) you wouldn't have expected to see. "USA-EU: Cold War." Moscow clearly enjoying tensions between Washington & Brussels, as well as the new US national security strategy that's more critical of the EU than of Russia.

Every now and then Trump pretended to be tough on Russia, but it was always just for optics and always circled back to Putin. He’s been anti-NATO and pro-Russia since the 80s, and it’s even worse now because they clearly have something big on him.

Great speech by European Parliament member Reinier van Lanschot (video from October 8):

"How many Russian drones did it take to shut down European skies? About five. How many drones are over Ukraine? About 500. Every night. If we face that, we're not prepared at all.⤵️

What folks need to realize about "peace talks" is that this is all theater for Washington. Ukraine knows that Russia has no intention of stopping the war, and the Russians know the Ukrainians know that. So this is just all a performance for Trump, hoping he blames the other for the lack of peace.

The war is Ukraine’s fault because they haven’t shown enough “gratitude” to Donald Trump. This is like watching a Godfather sequel where the Don has advanced dementia.

This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

5/5 Seizing Russian assets is not radical. It is justice.

Russia destroyed Ukraine. Russia should pay. Europe must lead. Transfer the frozen billions to Ukraine now. Delay means death. Action means victory.

Which side are we on?
