As someone in the mapping space professionally, this whole convo around the “Gulf of America” thing is surreal. It’s like grad school all over again. What is a “place”? What is a “name”? Essays due at 5.

Amazing how many people loved the same sci-fi stories I did as a kid but the only thing they seem to have taken away from it is SHINY NEW TECHNOLOGY! Ignoring the endless critiques of fascism and individualism and just how dangerous that shiny new technology can be in the hands of bad actors
