Huge news and probably the most significant win for the UK left since Corbyn became Labour leader in 2015. A comprehensive rejection of Starmerism by the country's biggest union and Labour's largest affiliate.
🚨I am delighted to have been elected as UNISON's next General Secretary.

This is a win for ordinary UNISON members. Read my statement below:

80% of British media spends all day everyday calling trans people predators and freaks, and the remaining 20% say tsk tsk that's a bit much while still arguing they should be banned from even having a fucking hobby and, honestly, would it be so hard for them to just piss before they leave the house?

✅ Wages
❌ Weapons

As UNISON"s General Secretary, I will oppose weapons spending that takes money away from public services.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

The anti-genocide protests are not made against the Jewish community. They're not even made against Israel per se. They are primarily against *our own government*, and it's complicity in the genocide being carried out by the Israeli state. The home secretary's remarks should be seen in that context.
@zackpolanski.bsky.social is asked about the Home Secretarys comments that yesterdays protests about Israels actions were dishonourable (she also said they were unBritish).

Zack is spot on.

Your Party deciding to really go for it with mass assemblies, mass canvassing, sortition conference and online voting is a very brave experiment in popular democracy that should be welcomed by anyone who doesn't want us to be governed directly by Elon Musk by 2035.

I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.
I Am An AI Hater
I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.

If you understand Labour, Reform and the Tories as competing factions in a political class fighting to secure the specific section of the electorate that broadly favours the Thatcherite Consensus in its harshest, ugliest forms, united against liberalism and socialism, then you will not go far wrong.
