A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

Most autocrats are dimwitted and lucky more than evil geniuses, but there's something exceptional about how we've built a cult of personality around a man who is unabashedly so very, very stupid. And one where one where loyalty is defined almost entirely by willingness to make yourself an idiot.

If like any sane, moral person you think this administration's immigration policy is cruel, inhumane, and brutal, there are probably better ways to spend your time than lecturing the people harmed by that policy about patriotism and proper decorum when protesting what's being done to them.

I seem to be of the minority opinion that it's bad for our historical understanding when people use "blood libel" to mean "well-documented exposé reporting on actions committed by the Israeli military."

Do you think when people criticized South Africa in the 1980s there were a bunch of people like "oh so you only think the Boers should not have a country when black people have countries all around SA?"

Alex, thank you for sharing my daughter's letter. For context, here are screenshots of the right wing "news" report and an Instagram reel by a Maine candidate for governor that led to her decision to write the letter. She did not like the way she was portrayed as a victim aligned with their stance.

I think this is my favorite part of the Hasan Piker story. One of the reasons I will never be a famous influencer or commentator is I lack the people skills or sharp insight to realize when the cop interrogating me is actually secretly totally on my side.

The emoluments clause of the Constitution makes no specific mention of Qatar or the Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet, so it's hard to understand why the Democrat Party is denouncing this incredible gift to our president.

Vance's Easter visit to Rome clogged its streets with a 40-vehicle entourage. He also demanded the Coliseum be closed so he and his family could tour it alone. Tourists who properly booked slots in advance got screwed.

He's apparently the first to make that demand. Then he didn't bother to show up.
