Being an author saved my sister Leslie Moïse after her stroke in 2012. An author of several books available at your local bookseller from Pearlsong Press, a woman owned micro press out of Nashville Tennessee, Leslie had submitted her manuscript of _Judith_ the week before her stroke. #BookSky 1/2

Sen. Strom Thurmond voted against the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, AND supported Jim Crow laws.

Thurmond’s record for longest floor speech (in protest of the Civil Rights Act, no less!) was just broken by a Black man, my good friend Cory Booker.

That’s America.

what booker is doing right now is an example of what i mean when i say things like “we need more ambition right now.” there is room in american politics right now for people with ambition to take big stands and reap the rewards. he’s doing it!

We’re asking Kentuckians and our neighbors to do what we do best — help each other in times of need. We’ve set up teamkystormrelieffund.ky.gov, where those who are able can make a donation to help with recovery efforts from the storm.

We will get through this together.

So. In 3 weeks:

No more food safety
No more wage protections
No more health or safety protections at work
No more environmental protection
No more protections from disease or poisoning
No more protection of your identity or money
No more women or minorities anywhere
Great. Just great.

Tesla earned $2.3 billion in the United States in 2024.

You'd think it paid a lot in taxes, right?

Well it paid precisely $0 in federal income taxes last year.

You want waste and fraud? Look at what some big corporations and the rich are getting away with.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

I am really frustrated that the press is discussing the destruction of USAID as something that has happened rather than an illegal action that will likely be undone in two weeks when courts tell the world that it was illegal.

We worked for months with USAID to build an $85,000,000 project to end TB in two regions of the Philippines.

The project is funded by private money, the Philippine government, and matching USAID funds.

It could provide a blueprint for eliminating TB worldwide--except it's...not happening.

A reminder: Tariffs are a regressive tax that drives up prices on everyday goods. They disproportionately hurt the working class and poor who bear the brunt of higher costs while wealthier consumers feel significantly less impact.
