I ask students to write about their first encounters with civil rights history for their first assignment. Of course, they often talk about MLK and Rosa Parks, but I also receive a lot of critiques (from mostly white students) of their education systems for barely discussing the movement.

I can't believe this has to be said but I'm a white trans Jewess gay married to a Black trans woman. Interracial and intercultural relationships are an honor and a privilege and one of the best parts of the human experience, provided you approach the world with curiosity instead of white supremacy.

The thing is. Throwing a MAGA sieg heil isn't what makes these guys fascists, it's all the rest... however, that is what is going to occupy the news cycle. "Did Musk do a fascist salute ?"... "Musk denies".... "Musk accuses Democrats of being fascist party poopers".
