Today we remember and honor the lives lost at Pearl Harbor 84 years ago, during one of the deadliest attacks on American soil.

May the bravery and sacrifice shown by our service members that day never be forgotten.

Kyle Goon: A fencer turned a personal choice into a political crusade — and endangered transgender people everywhere
Kyle Goon: Fencing controversy could fuel real harm for trans people
Anyone can decide not to compete in a sport for any reason. But turning it into political crusade only serves to threaten already persecuted transgender people.

I usually say "money buys margin," which is to say, if shit happens, you don't have to scramble to deal with it. When my cat had a urinary tract infection two weeks ago that could have killed him, I didn't have to choose between him and an electric bill, or groceries. That's margin.
Money doesn't buy happiness but it buys security. Not having the anxiety of losing everything if you lose your job or are hospitalized is far better than happiness. Someone who tells you money doesn't buy happiness doesn't appreciate the feeling of security.
