“We have become the destination of choice in Europe, “clearly visible to every people smuggler and would-be illegal migrant across the world.” This is a lie. There were more than twice as many asylum claims in Germany last year, and about 1.5 times as many in Italy, Spain and France

Jacob Rees-Mogg like Rishi Sunak has registered all his assets in tax havens, because they don't 'belong' to him in the UK they aren't taxed here.

So his tax bill is negligible, he doesn't need to leave to dodge tax.

This con needs to be stopped.

Labour is a government with no moral anchor, no guiding purpose, no overarching vision. It is a government in power for its own sake.
Having taken the scalpel to the winter fuel payment and disability benefits, Labour is now constructing one of Europe’s harshest asylum systems

Geoffrey Howe told us Privatisation would ensure public utilities endured the "rigour of the market". The fool was a QC. He knew nothing about the rigour of the market

So politically what happens next is that we will see the familiar political order fragment.  The moment of collapse has arrived, and there won't be a renewal. There is no chance of neoliberalism getting through this crisis. It's over, finished, dead, gone, what comes next is the worry

Mortgage repossession orders in England and Wales reached 10,853 in 2024-5 - the highest number in five years.

Tragedy for thousands - years of austerity, real wage cuts, insecure jobs, over-lending, hike in house prices by builders and estate agents.

Bankers profit from repossessions.
Stories from court as home repossessions hit five-year high
BBC journalists in the East of England and London attended various county courts as mortgage-holders and renters appeared in front of judges.

By dismantling some of the deepest fictions in modern political economy we begin to see Human need is real; money is not. Money is a tool we create to organise resources.
Then the real deficit we face is not financial but moral: we face a deficit of ambition, courage, and care.

The consequences of UPFs consumption are profound

Obesity, diabetes, heart disease and gut disorders are rising because our food environments have been re-engineered around industrial ingredients. The NHS pays the bill. The corporations collect the profit.
