I wish there was a service where I could pay someone to make my Bluesky work like threads.

The whole point is for this platform to be customizable but idk about its out of the box function.

I would converse here but I’m always speaking into a void and rarely finding the things I’m interested in.

Something I will not do anytime soon again is own a home.

1) The payment is way more than rent but idk that we will ever see a return on investment in this housing market.

2) Renting is freedom. We are ready to move out of state but literally cannot until the market drastically changes.

“The Democratic Party is losing the information battle.” - @pbsnews.bsky.social

Cannot emphasize this enough. The information you are receiving is NOT what’s getting to the majority of the public.

As a Texas democratic voter said in the same story: “I’m not on the same planet as these people.”

Was maybe buying a book and wasn’t sure about it.

Book shop assistant says, -“if you have ADHD, reading this books feels like reading the transcript from your brain.”

Idk how she clocked me so quick but I *did* buy the book 😂

relatedly: one VERY OBVIOUS and poll-supported avenue for democrats to make in-roads with swing voters is by doing things like attacking money in politics, corruption, citizens united (and, by extension, the supreme court). weird that they seem resistant to it!
a snake eating its tail of "you need money to win; you need to appeal to donors to get money; appealing to donors means taking several viable approaches to campaigning and governance off the table, hampering your ability to win"

Something that I think people who’ve grown up in highly educated families don’t understand is that only 38% of Americans pay attention to the news all or most of the time.

I spent the first 21 years of my life completely unaware of the world around me. I had ZERO news exposure. Zero.

The amount of times I’ve accidentally opened threads today is so annoying. I feel like tricking people into opening your app through a UI change is a pretty desperate move

The most infuriating thing about running a boutique stocking S-3X is how easy it would be to find ADORABLE and chic and cool clothes if I just didn’t care about size inclusion.

It is 2023 - why are we making clothes only for sizes S-L is when the average woman is a size 18!!?

"How can we disqualify Donald Trump from ever becoming president again?" was a problem that had a straightforward answer, if the people with the power to do it had just done it while the blood and broken glass were still being swept up
See: House Democrats flinching away from immediate impeachment on Jan. 7 in favor of waiting a few days to ask Mike Pence to consider opening a 25th Amendment inquiry
"To some degree, I think there's a case that everybody hopes somebody else will disqualify Donald Trump."

Would like to understand how creative people in Texas have found ways to thrive here.

I find it so exhausting to just *exist* in this place that there’s not a lot room for more creativity.

Going on 25 years in the area and still feel this way.

One of the reasons I started my own boutique was to reclaim writing as a sporadic outpouring of feeling and ideas instead of the consistent forced production necessary to monetize your work.

I simply do not work that way. I am a feelings-led writer, probably to an extreme.

I find that as time passes from my days of being an southern evangelical leader (a decade in 2024 since I left the church), I am more and more open to spirituality in all of its forms.

My belief in more than myself grows back as the bitterness subsides more each year.
