As a renewable energy nerd & networking/homelab nerd this one hit all the right spots. I do have questions, like are the packets of electrons fungible or discrete? So could I sell out of my local microgrid while my neighbours is buying in from outside the microgrid? Does my energy just go next door?
Today on Volts: Swedish tech entrepreneur Jonas Birgersson was once known in his country as "broadband Jesus" for his efforts in spreading decentralized, low-cost broadband access. Now, he wants to bring the same decentralized, peer-to-peer revolution to the electricity grid.
Making the electricity grid work like the internet
Jonas Birgersson joins me to explain how "packet-switching" for electrons can lead to energy abundance and grid resilience.

So have those Epstein file been published yet? If not have those responsible for releasing them been brought before a judge yet?

Remind me, how many wars have been started over sunshine?
Country 9 in global oil reserves has invaded country 1 and arrested its president. Country 7 is under sanctions and its refineries are being destroyed. Country 2 is facing off with country 6. And there are riots in country 3. But oil is only $60/bbl. Maybe oil is not as critical as it used to be?

2026 is so futuristic when I woke up all the bananas have black spots, I assume they got an update overnight and they are some type of qr like bar code.

Happy new year, Australia’s #NEM wholesale prices are down, average renewables penetration is up 4% points. Renewables curtailment is up so there is more #wind and #solar ready to dispatch if coal and gas could get out of the way. Big batteries become a visible force on the charts.

@hankgreen.bsky.social it’s very confusing seeing tons/tonnes being used incorrectly. Is it metric is it imperial?
What are your thoughts on the metric system using the name megagram instead? It fits the metric naming conventions and sounds different.

My local State Member of Parliament is whining about lack of community engagement over a proposed transmission line.
He was not at this weeks community engagement event.
Apparently if a trees falls in the in the woods and he wasn’t there to hear it, it didn’t make a sound.

Build more wind. It’s pretty.
24. We oughtta be building more wind. Seriously, solar will get built anyway, but wind needs some help, and wind blows in the dark and in the winter. It doesn’t help that solar pushes down power prices and generates renewable energy credits (where relevant), which hurts wind farm economics.

New #NEM #renewables record! Australia’s main grid hit 77.5% renewables energy for 5 mins. It stayed around 75% for a few hours. There was plenty of curtailed #solar and #wind on standby. The bulk came from rooftop solar. #Energy #electricity

iPadOS26 windows is trash. It removes swipe gestures with the apps

Today Australia’s National Electricity Market had enough curtailed #wind and #solar to run the grid completely fossil free.

Hot take: this position is less stable and and safe compared to a getting onto the top tube. Bring back the super tuck

This is not a problem with wind and solar.

Why aren’t the press talking about the time the big banks are taking to pass on the interest rate cuts. Try can raise them in 24 hours but it takes 2 weeks to do them?
They’ve just increased their profit margin for the next 2 weeks.
It’s not like this is a surprise decision expected for 6 weeks

How did my childhood tv shape my political views today?
Playschool - respect for arts and literature
Sesame Street- walkable urban design promotes community
Postman Pat - nationalised organisation serving the community
Ship to Shore - distrust the corporation, be ungovernable.

This one simple hack oil companies don’t want you to know.
I got your climate solution right here...
Supportive anecdata: since I got my new e-bike three months ago, I've put nearly 900 miles on it and roughly 25 miles on our car.
