Living behind enemy lines
I love how business owners are always so concerned about the 3 - 5 parking spots in front of their stores that bring maybe a couple dozen people to the area in a day vs public transit that brings hundreds.

I've heard stories of how bad customer service is at @aircanada.bsky.social, but I thought "nah, can't be that bad." I guess it was challenge accepted. Signed up to transfer points for a trip I'm planning. They canceled my account before I could book. Guess they don't like money.

Why is it that lighting a parking lot (for cars that have lights) is necessary and expected, but lighting a playground is "too expensive" and "excessive"?

Trump's designation of Antifa as a terrorist org is 0% about "domestic terror" (or Charlie Kirk's assassination) and 100% about defunding the Democratic Party. Why else would he target "groups that fund Antifa"? ActBlue is in the crosshairs.

They just tear-gassed us. They tried to run us over in a van holding a peaceful protester. They shot us with pepper balls. They dragged another protester into the facility.
moments ago, ice agents again came out of the broadview detention/“professing” facility to escort a silver suv out of the lot.

one of the agents picked up and threw congressional candidate kat abughazaleh to the ground.

Even in Montreal, with its large pre-war central city — where the overall density (including suburbs) is similar to many bike-friendly Dutch cities — people play the “we’re not Europe” card, especially in the anglo media.
@ohtheurbanity.bsky.social I guess these kind of short-sighted opinions are everywhere. Even in the most cycling-forward cities.

My "favorite" argument, among so many tired tropes, is that cyclists should be required to pay for insurance... 🤦

Opinion: Double the bike paths in Montreal? No and no
Whatever the cost, one thing is clear: the money would be far better spent fixing our roads and upgrading essential infrastructure.

Canada rates as one of the LOWEST overall tax burdens in the western world if you consider the total tax paid by employee and employer, and health care premiums and expenses, so true total tax burden.
