The main reason, specifically in the case of Hmong immigrants, is because of US imperialism. This sort of whitewashing is akin to saying Al Qaeda attacked us because of our freedom. A salve for our collective cognitive dissonance. But I do applaud him for being out and standing up for our neighbors
Hard agree. It’s just wrong! There’s a reason my community is full of Latino and Hmong and Somali people, and it’s because another America does exist and has existed. A free and welcoming America we can return to
I've said this before, but "america was always fascist" is simply not an effective messaging strategy for fighting an american fascist movement. you should not cede them control of the national identity! that's what they want!

It's been a good week of schadenfreude for internationalists between this, Carney admitting the "rules based order" favored westen nations and libs on here grieving pax americana. To be clear it sucks but this is what these weasels agreed to. Sucks you're being treated like a third worlder huh?

Remarkable to see a western leader openly admit the liberal rules based order was to establish benefits for western nations and to watch so many people responding to this on here blow right past that extremely important fact.

Not directed at OP but at what point do people come to terms with the evidence that shows many elected Dems are fully on board with a fascist, fortress America? Or at minimum think their actual constituents are their rich donors and Republican colleagues.
