I already knew sweeps were awful policy, but volunteering in day shelters and seeing people trying to recover from a sweep made me more angry at them than I ever knew possible.

No one wants to see suffering but moving it around to other parts of town doesn’t solve the issue.
When the funding alternatives are sweeps and rental assistance, we should choose the latter because it actually prevents more people from becoming houseless.
