On this day in 1989, an armed gunman murdered 14 women at École Polytechnique de Montréal. Another ten women and four men were injured.
The anniversary of the massacre is commemorated annually on Dec. 6 as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

If your downtown still has many wide and fast one-way streets, then your priority is to move cars as fast as possible thru a weak downtown. It’s NOT to create a vibrant downtown, help downtown retailers, keep people safe, support walkability and accessibility, reduce pollution, etc. #TrafficSewers

Trump's attack on Canada is not about fentanyl or the border. It is an attack on our nationhood.
But here's the thing: Trump is America's biggest disadvantage because he divides.
But he is unifying our nation like never before.

Great to see this critical coverage of police drug busts:

"A 2023 study published in the American Journal of Public Health showed a doubling of overdoses in proximity to opioid seizures in Indianapolis, where the study was carried out."

Do big drug busts actually cause more harm? | CBC News
On Wednesday, Surrey RCMP said it had conducted one of the largest seizures of illicit drugs in the detachment's history. However, advocates for drug policy reform say such busts actually lead to an increase in violence, overdoses and other negative health effects.

As someone who works in direct service harm reduction, it’s worth repeating that the majority of the harms we reduce are the harms of criminalization, isolation, and homelessness.

Volatile supply, lack of access to healthcare and support, and conditions on the street are what are killing people.
“One thing we actually know very well is that criminalization and prohibition of drugs drives people to use drugs in less safe ways and can actually increase risks of harms like overdose and death.”

Similar DEA policy to dramatically reduce opioid prescribing saw overdoses worsen, astronomically so

Let me simplify :
The root cause of addiction is trauma.
The root cause of unregulated poisoned drug supply is bad policies.
Until we address the root causes addiction will continue to go untreated, and people will continue to die of illicit drugs.
