It’s probably time to think about merging the PBS/WETA NewsHour operation into NPR’s much larger and much better funded news division. NPR could benefit from the additional video production muscle. The NewsHour would get access to NPR’s correspondents across the world and online production staff.

instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

In general, overall I find that the malevolence is of greater concern than the incompetence. But this kind of story really challenges that.
