Hi, I'm lyric and I write stuff. I have two kids, two cats, one husband, and one dog. My life is not especially adventurous but the things in my head make up for it.
Transcription program's haunted
…I am intrigued.
Hail, Dorian.

So like, here's the thing. I have not ever watched the BBC's treatment of Ghormenghast from 2000. I don't know if it's any good or if it even remotely resembles the tone of the books. I do know that a properly done Ghormenghast will outbrood any other broody castles around. So you could try it?
It just has to be pretty, brooding shit. With like, neat costuming. The acting can be wretched as long as it’s set in, like, Decaying Gothistan.

Any genre is fine, but again, NOT MODERN.

Snow White & the Huntsman, yes! The Craft, no!

THIS IS THE END OF THE THREAD

Am currently reading Watership Down to my kids with the promise of seeing an adaptation later. They are almost DISTURBINGLY into it. Kids can have a little gruesome violence and terror sometimes. As a treat
This is true and I say this as someone who LOVED the animated Watership Down.
"What movie traumatized you as a child" All of them. It was 1985, there were no non-traumatic movies to watch as a child

Yes, I've seen the account that alleges to be from someone at a literary agency, making fun of queries that come through the door. If real, it's shitty, unethical behavior, also, I just wrote a best-selling book about the moon turning to cheese, so fuck anyone shaming writers for "out there" ideas.

This is the same thing that happened to me. I'm not on Facebook either.
I was alerted this morning to this profile

This person, claiming to be "Katherine Addison," is DMing people offering to "connect" with them to "promote" their books.
1. This is NOT me. I do not use Facebook.
2. Please repost & spread the word as widely as you can.

The tariff saga and its impact on disabled people cannot be separated from the administration’s brutal cuts to Medicaid.

I read them as an adult but I loved Nnedi Okorafor's Akata Witch trilogy. Also Diane Duane's Young Wizards series.
Instead of vague posting about the bad books, I want to hear what GOOD fantasy series you read and stuck to growing up?

What kid and young adult fantasy lit have you read recently that isn't created by a dumpster fire funding regressive laws?

Boost it!

Don't get excited. But maybe you can get a little excited about the possibility of getting excited.

(Also, this is exactly the sort of stuff the current administration is planning to defund. Fuck those dudes.)

Today I'm finding out which people believe that if you're part of a population that is a small overall percentage of humans on the planet, it's okay to strip you of rights.

I wonder if they have considered how easy it would be to classify *them* into a small overall percentage, and do it to them.

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind.

An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one."

The other said, "Take him anyway."

So they did.

The personalities of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are assigned to the wrong renaissance artists. IRL Leonardo was the machine nerd, Raphael was the partyboy slut, Donatello was the only guy with organization/leadership skills and Michelangelo was the one that would fistfight God for a corn chip

Questions you ask as a pet owner:
Who's a good girl?
Is it you? It is you, isn't it?
What's in your mouth?
Why are you damp?
WHY DO YOU SMELL?
How about a B-A-T-H?
Where are you going?
Why am *I* wet and covered with suds now?
Who's my bestest girl?
