It is WORLD AIDS day -AIDS has decimated communities & became a flash point for American bigotry when it disproportionately affected the LGBTQ community in the 80's. 1.3 million ppl became newly infected with HIV in 2024. 91.4 million since the start of the epidemic, There's still a lot to do.

This book by Eleanor Johnson is an accessible but thoughtful exegesis of the feminist issues in some of your fav films, approaching their domestic horror tropes in light of current events @ the time of their release. The analysis is believable and carefully explained, the writing not overburdened.

I think the chapters on race are particularly well researched and thought out. In this very terrifying world of justification of prejudice I think it's so important to read books that challenge us in these areas and force us to root out any inherent biases that might be weeds in our garden.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.

Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.

The American people need more from their leaders.
