This book by Eleanor Johnson is an accessible but thoughtful exegesis of the feminist issues in some of your fav films, approaching their domestic horror tropes in light of current events @ the time of their release. The analysis is believable and carefully explained, the writing not overburdened.

I think the chapters on race are particularly well researched and thought out. In this very terrifying world of justification of prejudice I think it's so important to read books that challenge us in these areas and force us to root out any inherent biases that might be weeds in our garden.

If you care about filmmaking, books, art... pay attention if you aren't. I believe this clamping down is a sign of weakness and fear, but if we OBEY IN ADVANCE they will strip us of freedom until nothing is left. Keep resisting, creating, learning, and speaking. & Remember this and VOTE.

We had a fun Saturday but then a harrowing Sunday because my beloved senior dog had to be admitted to the vet hospital. He's still there and I am hoping that he comes home today but in the meantime I am staying positive and focusing on what I CAN do which is work ! Hope you have an amazing Monday!

Loved Michelle Obama's pcast w Bowen Yang about how his family rejected his gayness but later accepted and loved him as is. Michelle said (paraphrasing) "this is the thing we have to tell young ppl, that things can change, people can change, so keep going...don't give up on yourself or on life."

Yesterdays No Kings in Haddon Township/Collingswood NJ had at least 1500 people maybe up to 2000 and it was beautiful. #nokings

Acceptance and love costs nothing, exclusion and hate costs everything.

Although there is one animated short on the Oscar nomination list I haven't seen it cannot top this one. Its the story of characters from a children's program trying to survive hunger/desperation in a post-show world. It's brilliantly dark and the animation is pristine. Available to rent on Vimeo.

A prison drama based on a real life program for rehabilitation through the arts. This has 3 Academy Award nominations for a reason -- emotional, explorative of the pain of incarceration, but full of hope at how people society throws away can still redeem themselves through art and community.

It’s cold. And snowing. This is from Sunday today we are snow covered.

This was brilliant. If you don't agree I want you to take a moment to rewatch it and investigate the levels of shade. If you're liberal minded and you dismissed it out of hand because it was hip hop I need to have you take a moment to LISTEN. #kendricklamar #wrongway #gameover

I can't be at the state capital protests today but I stand in solidarity with all who are and pray for your safety and efficacy.

My husband is a big wrestling fan so when wrestling related horror drops he always wants to watch with me to meld our two interests. When this movie was over last night he apologized to me. I'm not sure I am going to accept.

The sumptuous writing you expect from this Korean superstar novelist, a bleak reflection on death and history and the bonds between people. Chilling, haunting and complex : at times it gets mired down but the gorgeous prose is a balm to any faults. #hankang #bookstagram #reading #reader

Listening to this on this chilly morning. Very good so far, and a lot we need to hear right now. It's sold out everywhere in print because the author is that brave Bishop Budde who plead with Orange for mercy for those he is persecuting. But it's available digitally/audio!

This is some of the most haunting, gorgeous cinematography I've seen and sound design was on point. Story is interesting but dialogue is overwrought and performances over the top which made for a little cringe. Never thought I'd find myself referring to any work as "Deathtrosexual" but here we are.

I never thought I’d see my mental chihuahua allow this kind of intimacy. Apparently, anyone can change if loved by the right nauseating Labrador.
