I can't believe it has already been 4 years since the Perseverance rover landed on Mars! #planetsci

The rover was equipped with six engineering camera that captured more than 26.000 images during the landing!

This thread contains some of my favorites:
A red-white striped parachute seen from below against a reddish-grayish sky. The perseverance heatshield falling away towards the surface of Mars. The inside is black and has serveral orange cables running across. around the perimeter are eight spiral springs that helped to push the heatshield away. The Perseverance rover as seen from the skycrane above, dangling from three ropes and a cable umbilical. The Red Mars dust from the surface is getting blown away where the plume from the skycrane hits the the martian surface. The rover deck is still remarkably clean as compared to later in the mission. The skycrane from below, partially obscured by Mars dust and small rocks it flies away. Each of the four corners has a pair of thrusters and the umbilical cable that has just been cut is curled up below the skycrane.
