The next endling in our mini-series is the Thylacine! Thylacines (aka Tasmanian Tigers or Tasmanian Wolves) have been extinct since 1936. Many factors contributed to their extinction, but our own zoological fascination was part of the problem. Learn more in our latest episode. youtu.be/YeMXE8XEmSU

A side-on snapshot of the skull of Megacerops, a #brontothere (‘thunder beast’) from North America for this #FossilFriday. Sporting large bulbous horns, these large, ancient mammals looked a bit like rhinos 🦏 but are actually more closely related to horses 🐎.

Ceratogaulus (or Epigaulus) hatcheri, on display at the Smithsonian sometime after 1910. This is the holotype, collected by JB Hatcher in 1885.
While this little dude is sadly no longer on display, it does feature in one of the Julius Csotonyi's murals that are now in the same hall.

Looking for a very specific photo of the Ornithischian Hall at AMNH. I want to see the mummified Lambeosaurus from far enough away that you can see the shape and dimensions of the case it's in.
Like the 1st image, but further back. Or the 2nd image, but slightly to the left. Can anyone help?

If you're a writer/other creator in the United States, consider creating an LLC for your business and then signing up for a local area Chamber of Commerce. Many of them have health insurance plans that pool their members and members of other CoCs to create insurance efficiencies relative to ACA.

Frog-people! What’s the current consensus on the origin of chytrid? Is shipping Xenopus around the world in the 1930s still the vibe or is an East Asian/Korean origin for the pandemic lineage where we’re at these days? 🐸

About 120 million years ago, a pterosaur fell from the sky and died in a pond. A layer of sediment washed over it, preserving not only its skeleton, but also its stomach.
The resulting fossil is the first pterosaur ever found with a belly full of plants. #NationalFossilDay https://scim.ag/4hbaedc
