Agreed, and *in addition*

Attempts to exile children from public society are de facto attempts to exile a whole lot of women from public society, too.

Sitters are expensive and men often feign helplessness when it comes to caring for kids even for a few hours at a time.
One of my more stick-in-the-mud opinions is that children are one of the most vulnerable groups on earth and marginalizing and isolating them (aside from for health and safety issues) in our society is not only dangerous for their well being but deeply corrosive

Multiple times this year I’ve had coffee with fellow immigrants who grew up in corrupt third world countries and the shared sentiment has been that Americans don’t understand how bad things are going to get.

A gentle reminder that the VA getting rid of 30,000 people instead of 80,000 people isn’t a win.

You’re not independent if you can’t afford rent.

You’re not free if your vote is gerrymandered into dust.

You’re not liberated if your rights depend on the whims of nine robed extremists.

I’m going to be very honest and clear.

I am fully preparing myself to die under this new American regime. That’s not to say that it’s the end of the world. It isn’t. But I am almost 50 years old. It will take so long to do anything with this mess that this is the new normal for *me*.

More than 16 million Americans are at risk of losing their health care because Republicans in Congress are rushing to pass a bill that would cut federal funding for Medicaid and weaken the Affordable Care Act.

In a waiting room, and this lady chatting w/ the receiptionist is doing a great job explaining the actual impact of the DOGE cuts: *everyone* at her office laid off, what kinds of programs they do & who they help (kids), what's happening w the injunction. These personal stories need more attention!

This is utterly vile. Loomer is calling for ethnic cleansing and we need to say so, every single day, and stand in the way of this.

Senate Republicans just voted to pass the largest slashes to your health care and kids' nutrition assistance in our nation's history.

They're gambling with your lives to pay for tax cuts for their wealthiest friends.

Unironically they should buy up the domains for about 60 defunct local newspapers in swing states. Hire two reporters to write almost exclusively about highschool sports and new restaurants opening with every 10th article about how the local GOP is screwing over people.

Democratic mega-donors are debating plans to spend tens of millions of dollars on a range of influencer plans to "find the liberal Rogan."

We've got pitch decks, investor meetings, and internal docs.

One Democrat has a spreadsheet of 26 different proposals.

Most likely, your local Children's Hospital primary funding is Medicaid.
My daughter’s speech therapist went out of business because Medicaid reimbursement rates were too low. We do not have Medicaid. I’m going to keep posting this until people understand that when Medicaid gets cut *everyone* loses services.

Yup. And I tell my kids this. Those who actually learn to write will have a comparatively huge advantage over ChatGPT educations-because learning how to be a good writer isn’t just about the text produced. Writing teaches a host of critical skills needed across all fields and in your personal life.
In 5 years there are going to be a rash of pieces about the weird superpower of young people who one way or another avoided AI slop during their school years and their unfair advantage over their peers.

Slice of homemade bread, cream cheese, strawberry, balsamic vinegar, and basil. A pinch of salt to finish. It was so good.
