Concrete Island was not my FAVOURITE J.G. Ballard book I've read but I still enjoyed it quite a lot. There's something about mid-20th century spec fic that refuses to explain emotional choices and, in this case, it makes Maitland a little more interesting.

My least favourite example of language bleaching is how the word lying gets used in situations where 'was incorrect' is more apt. Lying implies malicious intent, sometimes people are just wrong.
Not saying no one lies on the internet, just, like, again. Words *do* matter.

It's wild to me that people make this kind of vibe their personality. Like, what a weird reaction to other people enjoying something, EVEN if they are being annoying that has little if anything to do with the art itself.
