Thanks to climate change, we're barreling towards an insurance crisis, as I wrote for @climateconnections.bsky.social today. It's not just California and Florida – nobody's insurance rates are safe 🧵(1/13)

Mike Johnson is threatening to condition California wildfire aid to raising the debt ceiling, which would pave the way for another round of deficit-spiking tax cuts for the wealthy.

Playing politics with people's lives to make your donors richer is reprehensible.

ABC, NBC & CBS dedicated about 16 minutes of airtime last night to the California wildfires without once mentioning climate change.

Since the news failed do it's job, here's a short summary of the role of climate change and wildfire risk:

OK, so I am new to Bluesky, finally deactivated my dormant X account. I don't find any of the elected officials here that I followed on that old, degraded platform. Anyone know what's up with that? Too new?

Agree.
Disasters are going to get more severe and more frequent, and it’s no surprise that this year’s federal price tag is exceeds 100 billion dollars. Climate action is way way cheaper than climate inaction.
