It's usually been quite easy to see the cynical/personal motives behind whatever Musk is doing, but I really don't see it with his anti-UK stuff (of AfD stuff). What's the best explanation beyond "he's radicalised himself"?

BlueSky has a user base with a very high proportion of people who have a history of leaving social networks that don't align with their values. That might be more of a challenge for them than I originally expected
“Yes, we briefly constructed a user-focused social media website so popular and culturally relevant we had Zuckerberg quaking in his boots, but we threw it all away to protect one weasely little bigot with a mid-tier Substack.”

is that what we’re doing here, Bluesky

it was going so well
Personally, I think Jesse Singal should be banned from Bluesky for his own protection.

This is what she should do
This isn't correct @thetimes.com If you built housing at average newbuild density (31 homes/hectare) across the 1,663km2 of Surrey you'd build 5.1 million homes. That's vastly more than Rayner wants to build on greenbelt.
Angela Rayner will press ahead with plans to prioritise for housebuilding an area of the green belt bigger than Surrey, insisting there is no alternative to large-scale development in the countryside around big cities ⬇️

I would be fascinated to know how many non-journalists are actually even aware of the difference between the observer and the guardian (and the idea that the observer is anything other than the Sunday Guardian)
(probably quite a piquant view but the Guardian hadn't exactly been letting the Observer thrive over the past decade or so, so maybe it's not the worst thing in the world that a group of people who are actually excited about the paper has now bought it)

Maybe the most interesting Bluesky vs. Threads data. Yes, Threads is almost definitely a lot bigger when you include app data (which SimilarWeb doesn't). But Bluesky is getting all the Twitter referrals, Threads is IG.

Bluesky is creating a second Twitter, Threads is a new IG offshoot instead
