Just for clarity: Wes Streeting is an bald-faced quisling, whose rights as a cis gay man wouldn't exist without the struggles and sacrifice of the trans and gender diverse people who came before him. If you believe him now I have a bridge to sell you.
In an "olive branch" Streeting defended everything he did to strip healthcare from young trans people as right and justified and said absolutely nothing about any way he'd move away from that targeted campaign to eradicate trans people.

Come ON @theguardian.com. This is atrocious.

When I teach LGBTQ+ film classes I spend a lot of time giving students (who are usually part of the community) LGBTQ+ history because, as Hugh points out, most gay people don’t know all that much about their own history. It’s the most meaningful work I do. Excellent thread, highly suggest you read!
(long🧵) Watching some gays & lesbians celebrate that heinous UK Court ruling against trans women has me again thinking about how little most gay people know about their own history. No, I'm not rehashing if trans people were at Stonewall (they were). I'm talking about the long arc of what it even...

I have multiple & contradictory thoughts about including non-binary writers (such as me) in IWD book displays.

*if all ur nb writers are all afab, congrats ur the Women's Prize & it's a fail

*if u include afab nb writers & no trans women it's a double fail & pure transphobia
international women's world book day week month challenges to libraries, bookstores, events & lists milking the conjunction:

1) INCLUDE TRANS WOMEN BC TRANS WOMEN ARE WOMEN.

2) DON'T INCLUDE TERFS BC TERFS DO NOT INCLUDE ALL WOMEN IN THEIR DEFINITION OF WOMEN.

Have seen TOO many fails.
