Sometimes I think I should call for more roll checks at my BITD considering we had zero last night. Doe I admit we still used the stress mechanic and had to call it early due to me losing my voice in the middle of it. I just get very enamored in the fiction of what the players do #ttrpg

I've noted it a lot, I will doubtlessly note it again, how weird it is that the TRPG hobby specifically devotes so much discourse to trying to distance itself from the actual "game" part of the acronym
Game mechanics aren't that special.
There is nothing inherently better about rolling 2d6 vs a d12, rolling over or under a stat for a skill check, or using tokens.
The special part is when you, the designer, noticing how a particular mechanic lets you share a part of the human experience

I think that everyone endorsing AI in everything needs to spend some time dealing with how well "smart" appliances have worked.
I will consider trusting super-clippy sometime after I can go a few months without needing to power cycle my oven.
