And up next in this same area, some amazing retrogressive-thaw slumps. These occur when ice-rich permafrost is exposed. A vertical headwall retreats as thaw progresses, and a slurry of mud flows downslope. Larger slumps occur in areas like this with lots of buried glacier ice… 1/

Se da porque el aire es obligado a ascender por una montaña (se enfría por la adiabática seca) el aire puede llegar a la saturación (condensación y se enfría por la adiabática húmeda) deja agua. Y luego desciende por la adiabática seca pasada la cima. Al otro lado llega un aire cálido y seco.

Grace Hopper – computer science pioneer and United States Navy Rear Admiral – was born OTD in 1906.

As far as I’m aware, she is the only person who has both a supercomputer and a US Navy destroyer named after her. The FLOW-MATIC compiler she helped develop was a predecessor to COBOL. 🧪 👩‍🔬
