I was thinking about this tonight. They aren’t deporting violent criminals. They’re kidnapping people off the streets, most of whom are here legally. It is wrong and we need to speak out against it. It is home-grown terrorism.

President Trump's deployment of federalized National Guard troops is unnecessary, inflammatory, and an abuse of power.

The Trump administration is putting people in LA in danger and undermines the democratic principle that the military should not police civilians.

ICE arrested former Afghan Nat'l Army soldier—our ally against Taliban—at his home in TX.
He entered legally and atty says he has no criminal record. Was applying for asylum. Appears to be casualty of Trump decision de-documenting legal Afghan immigrants

Former Afghan soldier arrested at Houston-area home by ICE, stripped of asylum protections, attorney says | Houston Public Media
The soldier is one of at least 20,000 Afghans seeking asylum nationwide, having fled Afghanistan after aiding the U.S. military during the two-decades-long war there.

This was never about “protecting” college seats for US citizens. It has always been about fear—about sending a chilling message to undocumented youth that they are not welcome, no matter how long they’ve lived here, or how much they’ve already given back.

Lawmakers lacked the political courage for a floor vote at the Capitol on the Texas Dream Act, so state leaders took a coward’s path.

Very smart, high ROI initiative from the Spencer Foundation.

Providing bridge funding for canceled NSF grants:

1) directs funds to projects already screened by a top-noch review process.
2) avoids imposing proposal prep costs on researchers.
3) ameliorates the disruption from GOP sabotage.

Who are the Bambergers of our time? We need them!
Let's talk about these two department store owners: brother and sister Louis Bamberger and Caroline Bamberger Fuld. From Newark, New Jersey.

They are random people, basically. But in the late 1920s, with fascism taking over Europe, they made a choice that profoundly changed the world: 🧵

I would once again like to point out, if you are really truly afraid of fascist infiltration then you have to plan your exit in a way that guarantees fascism won’t be allowed to take hold. The pope stacked his conclave with the people he wanted to move power after his death. Joe Biden did not.

More white babies.
Let's call this what it is.

🤬🤮🤬🤮🤬
Trump administration has shown signs of enthusiasm for a pronatalist agenda. DOGE head Elon Musk, a father of 14, posts regularly on social media about the need for Americans to have more babies; he has also promoted NatalCon on X.
Trump may soon offer a motherhood medal, an idea popularized in Nazi Germany
He wants to be known as the 'fertilization president.'

Couldn't have explained the root of my sadness at the death of Pope Francis any better. Thank you for this.
I do mourn Pope Francis. Though I’m no longer a practicing Catholic, my remaining tether was to the kind of faith he modeled, especially in his care for migrants, for refugees, for social justice, and against war and genocide.
Hope @zeets.bsky.social doesn’t mind my sharing this.

Proud as always to be a Bardian.

Asking yourself why an arguably small, often considered niche, liberal arts college has made such an immense impact? Because critical thinking matters. Because values matter. Because free societies matter.

I think we need to be prepared to fight in the streets. If we see this happening, yell like there's a baby trapped in a burning building.

They're operating like the SS, so we have to get loud. We're socialized not to make a scene, not to argue.

We need to recall how to scream.

This is completely terrifying, a huge violation of the first amendment, and part of the coopting of a distorted version of anti-semitism to justify persecution of people speaking out against Israel's genocide. And the broader pursuit of a police state.
Not sure if this has been shared here yet, but this is video of Rumeysa Ozturk's arrest posted by WCVB. It's terrifying.
