I’m thankful for this reporting. More and more people of conscience need to know what’s happening.

I’m a teacher in western Mass where ICE hasn’t shown up to do its disgusting work. It’s cognitive dissonance that locally in my town and in my school there’s no mention of anything.
@samanthamichaels.bsky.social hid out with an immigrant family in Memphis, where the federal onslaught of ICE officers has fundamentally reshaped daily life.

“I am more scared in the last month than in the last 20 years. I thought they were gonna kick down the door and take me away.”
I'm a veteran criminal justice reporter. I've never seen anything like ICE-occupied Memphis.

Oh no. Horrible tragedy. My heart goes out to Prof. Loureiro’s loved ones.

This was one of my undergraduate departments. I wrote a paper on MIT’s fusion reactor back then; what a cool and vast area of research.

Damn this gun-loving culture, the gun lobbyists, and the legislators who do nothing.

Honestly, what Mamdani and his team are doing in. YC is giving me lots of hope right now.
This past Sunday, from 8am to 8pm, New Yorkers from every corner of our city traveled to the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria to share their dreams, their worries, the change they want to see across New York. It was an honor listening to each of them.

The blockade of Venezuela is a disgusting echo of U.S. imperialism in Latin America. We were lied to about Iraq and WMDs, and an entire generation paid the price.

Here we are again.

We cannot let a wannabe dictator drag us into another forever war.

💯 Organization is deliberate work, with a plan, over time, with pivots, not knowing what will work, but not losing sight of that purpose.
Outnumbering your enemy is not enough. *Strength* in numbers requires a shared sense of purpose. That must be cultivated. Understanding and relationships must be built. This is the work most people don't want to do. To turn moments into lasting movements, we need organization.

💯 My town doesn’t want higher taxes to fix the school’s heating system (in my classroom for ex. it’s either too hot or too cold). I say I don’t want my taxes paying for ICE. That’s where the anger should be.

Kast is the son of a Nazi. Says Pinochet would’ve voted for him. Started the Republican Party in Chile basically in Trump’s image. This is whom my birth country elected today as president.

I will try to focus my thoughts on the over 40% of voters who voted for Jara.

I’m a teacher by training and vocation. I cannot answer right now how to collectively nourish a more empathetic society that’s able to learn from history to create more prosperity for all and not recreate past atrocities.

Today, I’m heartbroken that my birth country of Chile chose the far right 💔

The far right has won in Chile. I’m heartbroken 💔

«While Kast has rejected the label “far right”, he has repeatedly defended Pinochet’s government. Of Pinochet, Kast famously quipped, “If he were alive, he would vote for me.”»
Far-right candidate Jose Antonio Kast wins Chile’s presidential election
Kast's victory is seen as part of a trend of right-wing victories across Latin America, including in Argentina.

A wave election is within our reach next year — but only if we invest in the grassroots organizing that helped deliver our big wins throughout 2025. Chip in if you can to support the nationwide work it will take over the next 324 days to win back power and put real checks on this lawless regime.

I’ve seen two kids post that the Brown University shooting is the second school shooting they’ve survived.

This should enrage and radicalize everyone.

Kids shouldn’t have to survive one shooting, let alone two.

No more thoughts and prayers.

It’s time to address the guns.
